What is One Book, One Community?

One Book, One Community, Natchez, Mississippi

The goal of One Book, One Community is to promote literacy while fostering a sense of community by bringing people together through literature. It encourages everyone to read and creates opportunities for people to talk about a variety of topics by spotlighting a remarkable book through exciting activities.

Inspired by the success of similar initiatives in larger metropolitian areas like Chicago, Seattle, and Ohio. This concept is also gaining momentum in smaller communities in Mississippi like Tupelo and Starkville. One Book, One Community is the first initative of this kind in Natchez, MS.

From August to January, various partners of One Book, One Community will hosts a variety of great events that will aid in bringing the community together by giving life to the book.

The first book selected is I Beat the Odds: From Homelessness to The Blind Side and Beyond by Michael Oher with Don Yaeger.

We hope you will join us.
